Things to Do in The Central West End

The Central West End is nestled between Forest Park and St. Louis University. The 112 city blocks just west of downtown St. Louis are home to 14,000 residents. Locals and tourists flock to the Central West End year-round to roam the mixed-use streets. Public art displays, charming architecture, iconic street lights, and trees contour this extraordinary neighborhood.

Recently designated one of the top neighborhoods in the United States, the Central West End or “The CWE” is lined with sidewalk cafes, boutiques, art galleries and bars.

At the intersection of Euclid and McPherson you will find an abundance of art galleries featuring Duane Reed Gallery, Philip Slein Gallery, and Projects + Gallery, Houska Gallery. The marvelous contemporary galleries are a must see in the CWE. The Vino Gallery is retail wine boutique and gallery located in the same area. Is there anything better than art and wine?

The same intersection on Euclid showcases a variety of local shops. You could easily get carried away with an afternoon of shopping through jewelry, antiques, furniture, and book shops. And just a few blocks away, near the World Chess Hall of Fame, you could find more great shopping including mainstream brands such as AG Jeans and Lululemon Athletica.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Enjoy the CWE’s many culinary offerings, from breakfast to dinner, the cuisine is mouthwatering. Grab bagels at Einstein Bro. Bagels and Lunch at The Tavern or Pi Pizza. And for dinner enjoy steak at Gamlin Whiskey House or indulge at Brasserie by Niche.

The most distinctive and unique characteristic of this charming neighborhood is the sense of community. Every year, there are multiple neighborhood events that engage the community and visitors. The CWE annual Halloween party is the highlight of the Fall. Festivities begin with daytime activities for the whole family and adult costume parties when the sun goes down. Other neighborhood events include small business Saturday, the CWE cocktail party, CWE sidewalk sale, and charity events. There is never a dull moment is in this vibrant and friendly community.
