Mellow Yellow is a Hyde Park institution that has served Hyde Park residents for almost 40 years.
Located on the busy 53rd Street Corridor, you’ll feel the 1970s vibe as soon as you step inside. The dining room is a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with a large stovepipe fireplace right in the center. When it first opened in Hyde Park in 1976, Mellow Yellow served mostly crepes. Over time, Mellow Yellow’s reach has broadened to other breakfast options, plus plenty of delicious lunch and dinner dishes to choose from, including burgers, sandwiches, and more.
If you come in for dinner, we highly recommend the chili cheese fries, covered in an aged cheddar sauce and piping hot chili, with a side of sour cream. Still, the real treats at Mellow Yellow are served at breakfast. They have dozens of options, including fruit-based and savory crepes, like the La Normandie crepe, with bacon and spinach souffle, topped with with Swiss and a white sauce. Try the chicken & waffles, you won’t be disappointed!
