Humans of Mac – Collin U. – Ambassador Apartments

We are happy to have Collin living with us at the newly renovated, Ambassador Apartments in KC. His apartment design is like something straight out of a magazine. I think our interior designers would even take some tips from him. You can see Collin around the area regularly snapping some amazing photography. Check out some of his work @collinulness.

How long have you been a resident at Mac?

“I’ve been a resident at Mac for about half a year.”

Where you from and what are brought you to KC?

“I’m from Omaha and went to school at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln prior to moving to KC. I got a job at a local TV station which is what brought me here!”

Describe yourself in three words.

“Kind, reliable and ambitious.”

What’s your biggest strength? Weakness?

“My biggest strength is always staying positive.”

“I’m very impatient.”

What are the biggest contributing factors that made you the person you are today?

“So many things have contributed to who I am including the people in my life, photography, and music.”

Tell me about one of your favorite memories or stories in Kansas City.

“My favorite memory of Kansas City is probably from the fourth day I had been living in Kansas City. It was the day of the Royals World Series parade which brought 800,000 people just miles from my apartment. Although I wasn’t able to go to the parade since I was working, watching it at work I couldn’t help but think how awesome the city I just moved to was.”

What do you enjoy most about living in a Mac building and can you define your apartment living style/inspiration?

“What I enjoy most about living in a Mac building, Ambassador Apartments, is that they are all unique. They are historic buildings that have modern units on the inside. I would say my apartment style is modern and simple. It’s always clean and whenever people come in they think they are in a model apartment.”

What are your life goals?

“My life goals are to continue growing in the television world and keep pursuing my hobby of photography.”

Tell us something interesting about your job, personal life, and/or charity work.

“I work at KCTV5 News as a technical director & studio technician. This means i’m one of the people in the control room doing a hundred things at once to bring the news to your tv screen. Imagine sitting in front of an overwhelming number of screens and buttons controlling the robotic cameras, graphics, video, and audio all at once for a live show. No pressure or anything!”

“I’m also really into photography so whenever I have free time and the weather is nice out, I love to explore the city and take landscape & city photos.”

What would you say to someone looking to live in this area?

“Mac Properties is great! They’ve done great things for the midtown area and most of the people that live in the properties are young and friendly. It’s also the best location since it’s right in between Westport/Plaza and Downtown areas.”
