Humans of Mac – Tyra P. – Bellerive
We are really excited about this week’s Humans of Mac, Tyra, who lives at Bellerive and will be teaching a yoga class for the residents in November. In addition to her yoga career, she performs improv comedy and has a knack for making people feel good.
What is your name and how long have you been a resident at Mac?
“My name is Tyra and I have been living in the Mac Apartments since July.”
What do you like to do in your free time?
“I like to sleep, hang out with friends, walk, bike, BRUNCH, yoga and write and perform comedy.”
Describe yourself in three words.
“Goofy, friendly and kind.”
What is your biggest strength? Weakness?
“My biggest strength is bringing people together and making them feel welcomed. My biggest weakness is balancing, making sure I don’t wear myself too thin with situations, people or work.”
What do you enjoy most about your apartment or living situation?
“This is the first time I am living on my own with no roommates, it’s been great just doing my own things! I enjoy having the theater to entertain my friends and the pool.”
What do you like most about Kansas City? Tell us your favorite story from
“I just moved back from Chicago and was not too excited to move back until I started exploring KC. I had no idea how “hip” KC is getting. I love going to the crossroads and finding new things to do.”
What are your life goals?
“Make the world laugh and be able to feed myself at the same time.”
Tell us something interesting about your job, hobbies, talents, personal life, or charity work.
“I am a full-time yoga teacher at Corepower yoga. I love my job! I never have to wear pants to work and I get to make someone’s day. Before I moved back I was performing improv each week in Chicago and I have been on several improve teams from Second City, pH and comedy Sportz. As far as talents go… I can pop my shoulders out of place.”
What would you like to promote or share to the world?
“Be kind to one another, we all have a story.”
What would you like to say to someone looking to live in this area?
“Great location between the plaza and downtown!”
